Fare of Subarna Express hiked, effective from Jan 25

According to railway sources, Subarna Express has two types of seats. Among them, the current fare of Shobhan chair is Tk 380. With an increase of Tk 25, it will stand at Tk 405. The base fare of Snigdha seat is Tk 725 including VAT. If it increases by Tk 80, the fare will be Tk 805 including VAT. Generally, VAT is not charged on Shobhan chairs.

There are two non-stop trains named Subarna Express and Sonar Bangla Express on the Dhaka-Chittagong route. Both trains take 5 hours 15 mins to reach destination. For a long time, Sonar Bangla Express was charging higher fares than Subarna Express. For this, the railway authority took initiative to adjust the price. After getting the approval of the ministry, now the new fare has been set.

In this regard, a letter was given to the Chief Commercial Manager of the Eastern Region from the Railway Director General's office on Sunday. The letter signed by the Deputy Director (TC) of Railway Director General's Office Md. Ansar Ali mentions that the fares of two trains of the same class running on the Dhaka-Chittagong route have been adjusted with the aim of eliminating passenger dissatisfaction and increasing revenue. Appropriate authority approvals have been obtained regarding the coordination. The increased fare will be effective from January 25.

Ansar Ali said that Sonar Bangla and Subarna Express are non-stop trains of the same class. For a long time the fare of Sonar Bangla Express was higher. Now it has been adjusted.

Subarna Express leaves Chittagong for Dhaka at 7 am every day except Monday. The train leaves Dhaka for Chittagong at 4:30 pm. Sonar Bangla Express departs from Chittagong to Dhaka every day at 5 pm except Tuesday. The train leaves Dhaka for Chittagong at 7 am.
