Dhaka, December 1: During the winter, the risk of plane crash due to bird strike is higher than other times. However, Shahjalal International Airport, one of the main airports in the country, has no effective measures to protect it.

For the past few years, the authorities have been talking about the use of modern technology, but no visible initiative has been seen.

Although there are six bird shooters to chase the birds, there are only two guns.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) says modern technology will soon be used to protect against bird hit.

Airports around the world are using modern technology to chase birds. Which is not available in the airports of the country. There are six bird shooters at Shahjalal International Airport. Their job is to chase the birds to the airport. However, the shooters are struggling to chase the birds over a large area due to lack of guns.

Birds roam in the open space of Shahjalal International Airport throughout the year.

However, in the winter season, the arrival of various types of birds, including migratory birds, increases.

Birds used to come to the water around the airport for so long. However, a new crisis has arisen even though the reservoir has been reduced for the work of the third terminal at the airport.

As a result, the insects below come up and the birds are coming for food. On the other hand, in the vicinity of the airport, there is grass and bushes, so the birds are more likely to roam. As a result, the risk of bird hit is increasing. Bird strikes can occur at low altitudes during takeoff and landing at airports. Bird strikes can cause damage to aircraft as well as the risk of major accidents.

Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, Air Vice Marshal. Mofidur Rahman said, 'We have had this (bird hit) problem here for a long time. We had an anti-bird system, but it didn't last long. We are looking for a modern anti-bird system, technical specifications have been done for the last 6 months. This work is almost at the final stage, we are a bit late due to Corona. I will go for procurement soon. '
