Dhaka, March 30: The people of the southwest region are one step away from fulfilling another dream with Padma Setu. The dream of Jessore residents to reach the capital via Padma Setu is now within reach. After the road connectivity, it is another step forward to easily reach Dhaka by train. There will be two trial runs from Bhanga in Faridpur to Rupdia in Jessore today Saturday (March 30) and tomorrow Sunday (March 31). Meanwhile, the new horizon of Jessore-Dhaka rail communication through Padma Setu is going to be opened.

This was confirmed by Mohidul Islam, site engineer of China Railway Group Limited.

According to the relevant sources, the probable time of the trial run from Bhanga in Faridpur to Rupdia in Jessore is 9 am from Bhanga. The 83.3 km route is expected to reach Rupdia in 40-45 minutes without any break. After some time review here, the train will return to Bhanga by noon. Sunday (March 31) will have the same schedule. If trains start running on this new route, the distance from Jessore to Dhaka by rail will be reduced to 193 km. The train will run on the broad gauge railway at a speed of 120 km per hour. From Rupdia, one of the trains will go to Benapole via Jessore, and another will go to Khulna.

Trains are currently running on Khulna, Jessore and Benapole routes via Dhaka-Bhanga. It reduced the distance by three hours. And if the direct rail connection is started from Rupdia, the train will reach Dhaka in two and a half to three hours. By road, it takes only three and a half hours from Jessore to Dhaka, which is almost half the time. The railway will start from Kamlapur in Dhaka and pass through Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Faridpur, Gopalganj and Narail to reach Jessore.
