Launch movement has been stopped on all internal routes of Barisal

Dhaka, October 23: The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has announced that all launches on the inland route will be closed due to inclement weather and warning signal No. 2 at Barisal river port.

BIWTA Barisal traffic inspector Md. Kabir said on Friday that launches below 65 feet were closed on Thursday due to hostile weather. However, as the weather worsened and the river became more turbulent, all launches on 12 domestic routes were declared closed.

Meanwhile, due to deep depression in the Bay of Bengal, torrential rains have been falling in Barisal division for the last two days. People have suffered in this. The low-lying areas of the city have been inundated by torrential rains. Waterlogging has occurred in many areas.

According to the Barisal Meteorological Office, 156 mm of rain has been recorded in Barisal in the last 24 hours till 9 am on Friday.

62 mm of rainfall has been recorded from 8 am to 9 am today. The wind speed is normal.

Besides, rains will continue throughout the day on Friday due to deep depression in the Bay of Bengal. It is also known that water will increase in the coastal areas due to low pressure.
