Dhaka, October 23: All shipping on the Kanthalbari-Shimulia route have been closed due to the Padma River being turbulent amid hostile weather. Launches and speedboats on the route were suspended on Friday (October 23) morning due to strong winds and rain.

Besides, the ferry service is already closed due to the naval crisis.

This information has been known from BIWTA's Kanthalbari Ghat source.

According to sources, strong winds and rain are continuing due to light pressure in the Bay of Bengal. As a result, Padma has become turbulent.

Authorities have kept launches and speedboats closed since dawn to avoid the risk due to strong waves in the middle Padma.

Akhter Hossain, a traffic inspector at BIWTA's Kanthalbari launch ghat, said the boat was closed due to hostile weather.

Launches and speedboats will be closed until the weather returns to normal.
