Dhaka, March 9: On the occasion of Shiv Chaturdashi Mela at Chandranath Dham in Sitakunda, 6 trains will stop at Sitakunda station from Tuesday (March 9). The Eastern Railway has taken this decision keeping in view the convenience of the visitors surrounding the Shiv Chaturdashi Mela. 

The information was given in a letter signed by Railway Divisional Transport Officer (Chittagong) Snehashish Das Gupta on Monday (March 8).

It is learned that although the main event of the fair is on Thursday (March 11), the visitors will start coming around the fair from March 9 today. Therefore, the Railways has announced a two-minute stopover at Sitakunda station for a total of 7 days from March 9 to March 14. 5 intercity and 1 mail train will stop at Sitakunda station in those 7 days.

The six trains scheduled for departure are Mahanagar Express on Chittagong-Dhaka route, Paharika and Udayan Express on Chittagong-Sylhet route, Meghna Express on Chittagong-Chandpur route and Vijay Express on Chittagong-Mymensingh route.

Besides, there is talk of stoppage of Dhaka Mail No. 1 at Sitakunda station. Incidentally, the fair is being organized at Sitakunda Chandranath Dham, famous for the great pilgrimage of Kali Yuga, on the auspicious date of Shiva Chaturdashi for 300 years.

Devotees visit the temple and worship Devadhideva Mahadev in various forms like Bhairab, Shambhunath, Chandranath and get his favor. In 2020, a record 20 lakh fans gathered at the fair.
