Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Oct 18: The upazila administration has discouraged tourists from travelling to Ruma and Rowangchhari Upazilas from Tuesday (October 18) to conduct a joint operation against underground terrorists in the two upazilas of Bandarban.

According to the two upazilas' administrations, the joint forces will conduct an operation against the terrorists in the hilly area. As a result, tourists are being discouraged from traveling to Ruma and Rowangchhari indefinitely. This decision has been taken for the safety of tourists.

Confirming the matter, Ruma Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mohammad Mamun Shibli said, "Recently, the movement of hill terrorists has increased in various areas of Ruma Upazila. Therefore, tourists have been discouraged from traveling to Ruma Upazila from Tuesday morning for the sake of safety."

Rowangchhari Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Khorshed Alam said, "Tourists are being discouraged from traveling to Rowangchhari for an indefinite period. The joint forces did not tell us how long the operation would last. However, if the movement of terrorists decreases, travel to the upazila will be activated again for tourists."
