Dhaka, March 13: Cable News Network (CNN), an internationally renowned news outlet, has expressed interest in branding Bangladesh in celebration of Mujib Borsho and the golden jubilee of independence. As part of this, the Ministry of Commerce has taken the initiative to sign a partnership agreement with CNN. A letter has been sent from the Commerce Ministry seeking the consent of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in this regard. The agreement will be signed with CNN only after getting the consent of the Prime Minister.

An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the proposed work would be overseen and implemented by the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) under the Commerce Ministry if approved by the Prime Minister. A memorandum of understanding will be signed with CNN for this. The funds required for its implementation will be collected from industries and businesses in the respective sectors.

CNN authorities submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Commerce on February 22 to spread the image of Bangladesh's capabilities worldwide. In view of this, the proposal was sent to the Prime Minister on 26 February from the Ministry of Commerce. CNN made the proposal considering the birth centenary (Mujib Year) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, and the 50th anniversary of independence.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, the year 2021 is especially important for us. This year the golden jubilee of independence and the year of Mujib is being celebrated. For this reason, it is necessary to spread the image of Bangladesh's capability and development in the international arena.

Meanwhile, in the proposal sent to the Prime Minister, it has been said that Bangabandhu has highlighted the foreign trade structure policy of Bangladesh in the fifth point of his historic 6-point demand. Through progress in all fields including trade and commerce, the father of the nation is the craftsman of building the golden Bengal of his dreams and the embodiment of a prosperous Bangladesh.

In the few years under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, and her government, Bangladesh has made unprecedented progress in the world arena, especially in the field of foreign trade. Which has come up in the reports of various international organizations. According to the 2008 election manifesto, 'Digital Bangladesh' has already gained recognition. In addition, Bangladesh is moving towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, the upper middle income country by 2031 and the high income country by 2041.
