Cairo, July 6: At least 26 people were killed across Egypt during clashes between ousted president Mohamed Morsi's supporters and opponents, reports said on Saturday.

The violence occurred on Friday after pro-Morsi demonstrators were killed by security forces in Cairo, reports said.

At least 12 people were killed during clashes in Alexandria city.

Large number of Morsi\'s supporters on Friday demonstrated against his ouster in a military coup this week.

According to reports, Islamist coalition-led by Muslim Brotherhood has vowed more protests across Egypt on Saturday.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged the security forces to protect the protesters and called on the Egyptian people to demonstrate “exclusively by peaceful means.”

After days of protests, the Egyptian Army on Wednesday ousted the country\'s first democratically elected president Mohamed Morsi just after one year in office.

He was taken into military custody the same night.

The head of country\'s Supreme Constitutional Court, Adly Mansour, was sworn in as interim president on Thursday.

Demonstrators across the nation accused Morsi of failing to tackle the economic and security problem since being elected a year ago.
