Dhaka, September 12: At least 50 people are believed to have died when a goldmine collapsed near Kamituga in Democratic Republic of Congo, reports said.

The incident took place on Friday at around 3pm (local time) following heavy rains.

Mining accidents are common in the country, reports added.

In October last year, at least 16 people died after a mine caved-in.

In another accident, which took place in June 2019, 43 miners died following a landslide at a copper and cobalt mine.
