Japan will keep 16 observers in the election

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 18 December 2023: Japan will have 16 observers in the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections. Iwama Kiminori, Japan's ambassador to Dhaka, told reporters after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal at Agargaon EC Bhavan at 2 pm on Monday.

He said that Japan will have 16 observers in the upcoming 12th National Parliament election. 3 of them will come from Japan, and the rest will be observers from the embassy.

Earlier, Iwama Kiminori went to the Election Commission to meet with Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal. He held a meeting for about an hour.

According to EC sources, the 12th National Parliament election and sending observers were discussed in this meeting. Before this, the Japanese ambassador has held several meetings with the CEC regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections.

After the last meeting with the CEC on June 1, the ambassador of Japan told reporters that he wanted to know what steps they are taking for free and fair elections. At that time, EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam told reporters that the CEC has requested the Japanese ambassador to send observers to the upcoming parliamentary elections.
