Relief from Bangladesh arrives in Syria

Damascus, February 13: Under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh's humanitarian relief aid package arrived in Syria's Damascus on Saturday in a special C-130J aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, Bangladesh's non-resident ambassador to Syria, Nahida Sobhan, and Syrian Deputy Minister of Local Administration and Environment received the relief aid at Damascus International Airport. The package includes dry food, medicine, blankets, tents, and winter clothes. Relief materials have been handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for distribution and proper coordination among the people affected by the earthquake in Syria.

Earlier, President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen expressed their deepest condolences to the President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister of Syria on behalf of the people of Bangladesh and the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has successfully sent this humanitarian aid package to Syria with the support of AFD, BAF, and MDMR.
