Russian military not allowing civilians to be rescued: Red Cross

Kyiv, March 7: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) alleges it has twice tried to rescue civilians from Mariupol, but has failed because the Russian military is not providing safe passage to evacuate civilians, and they have been constantly bombarding and shelling.

In this situation many people have been trapped there. They could be injured or killed at any time as a result of Russia's continued attacks.

The Red Cross has been trying to rescue civilians from the area since last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message on Sunday that Russia had planned to completely destroy the port city of Odesa, and there had been a series of bombings.

In the video message, Zelensky again made a series of accusations against Russia. He said multiple sanctions against Russia are not enough. Because, even after the Western countries slapped a series of sanctions on Russia, the Russian aggression has not diminished, it has increased instead.

The statement came after Russia announced plans to launch an attack on a Ukrainian military base near the capital, Kyiv.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that Ukraine is responding to the Russian attacks. More than 20,000 volunteers from 52 countries have joined the Ukrainian army and civilians to fight the Russian forces. It has been proven that the whole world is with Ukraine.

Russia has said it has destroyed Ukraine's largest military base. Moscow claims that before attacking the military base, they asked everyone to leave the area. However, Ukraine has not yet commented on the destruction of its military base.

The United Nations says more than 1.5 million people have so far fled Ukraine and took refuge in neighboring countries, and the number is expected to rise sharply and further.

Meanwhile, the impact of Russia-Ukraine war has started falling on the market. Crude oil prices are rising every day in the international market.

Oil prices were at 140 dollars per barrel on Sunday, the highest since 2008.

The highest oil price in 2008 was 147 dollars 50 cents per barrel. Experts suspect that the record may be broken in the way oil prices are rising this time.
