UN calls on all parties in Bangladesh to refrain from violence
New York, Jan 11: The United Nations reiterated its call on all parties in Bangladesh to refrain from any form of violence and ensure full respect for everyone's human rights and the rule of law.
Stephane Dujarric, the spokesperson of the United Nations Secretary-General, made this call in a regular briefing in New York on January 9.
"I think, as we have told you before, the Secretary-General has called on all parties to refrain from all forms of violence and to ensure everyone's human rights and access to the rule of law," he told reporters.
He said it is essential for consolidation of democracy and economic prosperity in Bangladesh.
"Secretary-General is certainly concerned about the violence that we have seen," the spokesperson added.
