China-Bangladesh-US US sanctions: China expresses support for Sheikh Hasina's stance
Beijing, June 15: China supports Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's stand against US sanctions on Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) issue. The country will fully support Bangladesh in maintaining its independence, sovereignty and geographical integrity.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said this at a regular press conference in Beijing on Wednesday. A correspondent of China's Global Times newspaper questioned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's comments on US sanctions against some RAB officials. In response, Wenbin said, China will support Bangladesh to uphold domestic and international policies according to national reality.
The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry also said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's comments have come to our attention. A country ignores its own caste discrimination, gun violence and drug problem and is turning a blind eye to the internal affairs of many countries, including Bangladesh, under the pretext of democracy and human rights. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has not only explained the strong position of the Bangladeshi people, she has expressed the attitude of a large section of the international community, especially the developing countries.
Wang Wenbin also said that we will work with Bangladesh and other countries against all forms of hegemony and power politics. At the same time, we will also work to uphold the international system based on the international system, international law centered on the United Nations.
