Sweden Crown Princess Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, in Dhaka
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 19 March 2024: Princess Victoria of Sweden, Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has arrived here on a visit to Bangladesh from March 18 to 21. Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud welcomed the princess at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday.
According to a press release from the Swedish Embassy, Sweden's Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forsel and UNDP Assistant Secretary General Ulrika Moder are with the princess.
The purpose of the visit, it said, is to learn about Bangladesh's development journey and gain an understanding of the progress and challenges in implementing the SDGs, focusing on climate, gender equality, green and digital transformation and the role of the business sector. The princess and delegation will hold talks with government representatives, entrepreneurs, organizations, development partners and youth. They will participate in various events highlighting the role of the business sector in promoting green and digital transformation.
The delegation will also visit the southern part of Bangladesh, including the Rohingya refugee camp in Cox's Bazar. The Crown Princess visited Bangladesh again almost two decades after her first visit to the country in 2005.
