David Warner's 166 makes the difference as Australia beat spirited Bangladesh by 48 runs in WC clash

Nottingham, June 20: In a match, where both the teams scored high runs, Bangladesh went down to Australia after putting up a strong fight in the 48-runs defeat match of the World Cup here on Thursday.

After Australia posted a massive score of 381 runs for the loss of five wickets, Bangladesh posted 333 runs by losing eight wickets in a closely contested match.


Mushfiqur Rahim (102), Tamim Iqbal (62) and Mahmudullah (69) tried to put up a strong show against the current champions and at a point looked that they might even cause another upset in the tournament.


Bangladesh is currently placed in the fifth position in the points table.


Stoinis, Nile and Starc picked up two wickets each for Australia in a clash which witnessed 700 runs runs scored in a day.


Earlier, riding on David Warner's 166 runs knock, Australia put up the massive total on the scorecard.


He hammered five boundaries and five sixes in the knock.


Aaron Finch (53) and Khawaja (89) contributed crucial runs with their willows in the match.


Australia are placed at the top of the table with 10 points from six matches.
