8 killed in Bangladesh road mishap

Dhaka, Aug 24: At least eight people died and 20 others were hurt as a bus in which they were travelling veered off a bridge and plunged into a ditch in Faridpur area of Bangladesh, media reports said on Saturday.

The accident took place on the Dhaka-Faridpur Highway in Dhuldi around 2:30pm on Saturday, Kotwali Police OC FM Nasim told bdnews24.


The identities of the deceased are still not known.


“A bus operated by Comfort Line transport group was travelling to Gopalganj’s Patkati from Dhaka when it swerved out of control and slammed into the railing of a bridge before falling into the ditch below,” OC Nasim told the news portal.


The injured people were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
