Abrar murder case: 3 more arrested

Dhaka: Bangladeshi detectives have arrested three students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) from Dhaka city and Ashulia area on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Abrar Fahad, media reports said.

Shamsul Arefin, 21, Moniruzzaman Monir, 21, and Md Akash, 21, were arrested from different places on Tuesday, confirmed Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Rabiul Arafat Lelin, bring the total to 13 apprehended, reported Dhaka Tribune.


Abrar was a second-year student electrical and electronic engineering department of the university.


He was beaten to death on Monday.


Some Chhatra League leaders have been accused of beating him for his alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, reported Dhaka Tribune.


On Monday, Abrar's father Barkat Ullah filed a murder case against 19 people.


Bangladesh Chhatra League expelled 11 of its members permanently from the organization for their alleged involvement in the incident.
