No plans to shrink Jamuna river: Bangladesh Water Development Board
Dhaka, June 12: There is no plan to shrink or narrow the river Jamuna, as the Bangladesh Water Development Board has given this assurance, the writ petition filed in the public interest has been dismissed directly (summarily) by the High Court. After the court's order, the petitioner lawyer Manzil Morsed said that the government has assured that the Jamuna river will not be shrunk. For this reason, the court dismissed the writ petition.

নিজস্ব প্রতিনিধি, ঢাকা, আগস্ট ৮ : জামালপুরের দেওয়ানগঞ্জ উপজেলায় যমুনা নদীতে অন্তত ২৮ জন যাত্রী নিয়ে নৌকাডুবির ঘটনা ঘটেছে। বুধবার সন্ধ্যা সাড়ে ৭টার দিকে দেওয়ানগঞ্জ উপজেলার চুকাইবাড়ি ইউনিয়নের ফুটানি বাজার ঘাট থেকে যমুনা নদীর অন্তত চার কিলোমিটার দূরে এ নৌকাডুবির ঘটনা ঘটে।
