Minister of State for Planning gets involved in Farakka Dam debate

Dhaka, March 11: State Minister for Planning Dr. Shamsul Alam and Chief Economic Researcher of the United Nations Dr. S. Nazrul Islam were involved in the debate over the issue of not having any statement about Farakka Dam in the Centennial Development Plan Delta Plan. At that time, the Minister of State for Planning commented that the Farakka Dam was an issue of another country.

Shamsul Alam takes oath as state minister for planning

Dhaka, July 19: Dr. Shamsul Alam, a former member of the General Economics Division of the Planning Commission, has been sworn in as the new state minister in the cabinet. President Md. Abdul Hamid administered the oath of office to him at Bangabhaban on Sunday (July 19) at 7.30 pm. Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam conducted the function.
