Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 14 September 2023: The court has ordered 2 years imprisonment for Adilur Rahman Khan Shubhra, the editor of human rights organization Adhikar, and ASM Nasir Uddin Elan, the director of the organization, in a case filed under the Information Technology Act on the charge of data distortion related to the raid on Hefajat-e-Islam's rally in Motijheel in 2013.
Lower courts to remain shut during week-long lockdown
Dhaka, July 1: The Supreme Court administration has decided to close the country's judicial (lower) courts amid a seven-day lockdown announced by the government to curb the growing coronavirus infections and deaths across the country. A statement signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Mohammad Ali Akbar on Wednesday (June 30) under the direction of Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said the government had declared a nationwide lockdown from Thursday (July 1) to July 7. Accordingly in all courts across the country, including the Supreme Court, normal judicial work will be stopped.

নিজস্ব প্রতিনিধি, ঢাকা, ১ অক্টোবর ২০২০ : বহুল আলোচিত বরগুনার রিফাত শরীফ হত্যা মামলায় রিফাতের স্ত্রী আয়েশা সিদ্দিকা মিন্নিসহ ছয়জনের ফাঁসির আদেশ দিয়েছেন আদালত। বুধবার (৩০ সেপ্টেম্বর) দুপুরে এ মামলার রায় ঘোষণা করেন বরগুনার জেলা ও দায়রা জজ আদালতের বিচারক মো. আছাদুজ্জামান। রায়ে পর্যবেক্ষণে বিচারক বলেন, রিফাত হত্যা মামলার আসামিদের নির্মম বর্বরতা ও নির্মমতা মধ্যযুগীয় কায়দায়কেও হার মানিয়েছে। এদের দৃষ্টান্তমূলক শাস্তি না দিলে তাদের অনুসরণ করে অন্য যুবকরাও ধ্বংসের পথে যাবে। এসব আসামি সর্বোচ্চ শাস্তি পাওয়ার যোগ্য। ...
