Garment workers movement fueled by BNP: Home Minister

Dhaka, Nov 13: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal claimed that BNP fueled the ongoing movement of garment workers over salary hike and said that a BNP leader in Kushtia fueled the movement of garment workers in Konabari and united them. The minister made this claim in response to a question while talking to the journalists of his office at the secretariat on Sunday.

Garment workers reject minimum wage, to hold protest rally on Friday

Dhaka, Nov 8: The wage board has announced that the minimum wage of garment workers will be Tk 12,500. The workers rejected this announcement. They called for reconsidering the demand of making the minimum wage Tk 25,000. The labour leaders have announced to hold a rally next Friday to protest against the reasonable increase in wages.

Minimum wage for garment workers to be Tk 12,500, effective from December

Dhaka, Nov 8: The minimum wage of garment workers has been fixed at Tk 12,500. The minimum wage for garment workers was last fixed in 2018. Accordingly, the garment workers were getting a minimum wage of Tk 8,000. The minimum wage has increased by Tk 4,500 compared to earlier.

25 lakh garment workers to get vaccinated starting today

Dhaka, July 18: In Gazipur, garment workers can get vaccinated against coronavirus without registration. Today, on Sunday (July 18), 10,000 garment workers of four garment factories are being vaccinated.
