Dhaka, Sept 5: A bill has been introduced in Parliament to take National Identity (NID) registration from the Election Commission (EC) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Dhaka, June 12: The Cabinet has given final approval to the draft 'National Identity Card Registration Act, 2023' to provide National Identity Card (NID) services from the Election Commission (EC) to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Dhaka, June 25: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has called on all to come forward to eradicate dangerous drugs from the society. The minister said everyone has to undergo a dope test to get into government service and if anyone is found positive, he/she will not get a government job.
NID activities from Agargaon, monitoring from the Secretariat
Dhaka, June 25: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the main activities of the National Identity Card (NID) would be from its current location in Agargaon, adding that monitoring would be done from the Secretariat (Home Ministry). The minister was responding to a question from reporters after a law and order meeting on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha at the Secretariat on Thursday (June 24).
Home Ministry desperate to take charge of NID, EC says no
Dhaka, June 24: Responsibility for the National Identity Card (NID) registration process goes to the Department of Security Services, Ministry of Home Affairs. The Cabinet Division has again sent a letter to the Election Commission (EC) clarifying the matter. But the Election Commission is still refusing to hand over the responsibility.
