Dhaka, June 25: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has called on all to come forward to eradicate dangerous drugs from the society. The minister said everyone has to undergo a dope test to get into government service and if anyone is found positive, he/she will not get a government job.

Such an activity is going to start soon. He made the remarks at a meeting at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) Sagar-Runi auditorium on Friday (June 25th) at noon. The meeting was organized by Manas, a drug and drug prevention agency.

"Not only in government service, those who are doing government job are also being brought under dope test. In particular, those in the security forces have already been subjected to dope tests. Action is being taken against those who are positive in the test," the minister said.

"We are working to prevent the spread of drugs and to enable the youth to live with their heads held high. The Department of Drug Control is working as a moral agency so that we can harness the talents of the new generation, as well as our security forces are cooperating with them.

"If we do not retain the talents of the young generation, the dreams we have for 2030 and 2040 will not be realized. With that in mind, we have enriched our law. The Department of Drug Control has been further strengthened. Besides, the security forces have also been strengthened to prevent drugs from entering the country.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared zero tolerance for the eradication of terrorism and militancy, just as she has called for a zero tolerance policy on drug control. We are working with her instructions in mind. We will control drugs from the country at any cost," he added.

The dangerous drug yaba enters through the Naf River, we are also monitoring there. We are working according to the intelligence reports given to us by foreign agencies," the Home MInister said.

"We are arranging special beds for drug rehabilitation centers in the divisional hospitals and in each district hospital. Besides, drug rehabilitation centers are being set up in 360 private hospitals at present. They have been given government grants so that they can continue to provide better services," he added.
