Dhaka, June 22: Stocking more than the prescribed amount of foodstuff will be punishable. In this case, a draft of a new law has been taken up in the National Parliament with the provision of life imprisonment or a maximum of 14 years rigorous imprisonment and fine. Some of the offenses under the proposed law will also be tried in mobile courts.

30 years imprisonment in case of life term, full sentence declared

Dhaka, July 16: The full verdict of the Appellate Division has been published that life term means 30 years imprisonment. However, if the verdict is specified in a particular case, life imprisonment will be considered as 'death penalty'. The 120-page verdict was published on the Supreme Court's website on Thursday (July 15).

Dhaka, November 18: A court has sentenced Madrasa Super Abdul Quader to life imprisonment for raping a female student at a residential women's madrasa in Kushtia, within three working days of the formation of the charge. Kushtia Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal Judge Munshi Md. Moshiar Rahman gave the landmark verdict in a crowded court on Tuesday (November 17) at noon.
