Import of edible oil will be reduced by half: Agriculture Minister

Dhaka, October 13: Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzak said, "In the next three years, we will reduce the import of edible oil. We will increase the production of oil crops in the country. Now 90 percent of the edible oil has to be imported. We want to reduce this import to 40-50 percent."

Prime Minister Hasina pushes for production boost, reduction in import of edible oil

Dhaka, March 22: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has emphasized on cultivating soybean and sunflower to reduce edible oil imports. The Prime Minister gave instructions in this regard at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday (March 22). Planning Minister MA Mannan told reporters after the meeting.

VAT on edible oil imports reduced by 10 percent

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 17: Reducing value added tax (VAT) on edible oil imports by 10 percent, the VAT has now been set at 5 percent. The newly fixed 5 percent VAT will remain in force till June 30.
