Ferry did not hit the pillar of Padma Setu, says Cabinet Secretary

Dhaka, July 26: There is no danger of ships or ferries hitting the pillars of the Padma Bridge. Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said, "Misinformation has been spread in the media in this regard." Anwarul Islam was responding to a question from reporters after a cabinet meeting at the secretariat on Monday (July 26) when he made the statement.

Ferry hits pillar of Padma Bridge, injures 20 passengers

Dhaka, July 23: Twenty passengers of the ro-ro ferry Shahjalal on the Shimulia-Banglabazar waterway were injured when they collided with the 17th pillar of the Padma Bridge. The accident took place when the driver lost control on the way from Banglabazar Ghat in Madharipur to Shimulia Ghat in Munshiganj around 9:45 am on Friday. However, there was no major danger as the ferry was brought under control immediately. Later the driver came to Shimuliaghat without any hindrance and anchored the ferry.
