Obaidul Quader mourns UP election deaths

Dhaka, November 12: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has morned the deaths during the recently concluded second phase of the Union Parishad elections.

No one was killed at polling stations on Thursday's election: EC

Dhaka, November 12: None of those killed in the violence in Thursday's Union Parishad (UP) election died at polling stations, Election Commission (EC) Secretary Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker told reporters after the second phase of Union Parishad elections at the Election Building on Thursday (November 11) evening.

Six die as chase-counter chase caps second phase of UP polls

Dhaka, November 12: At least six people were killed and hundreds were injured as chase-counter chase and violence capped the second phase of Union Parishad (UP) elections which took olace in different parts of the country. The dead included three in Narsingdi, and one each in Cox's Bazar, Chittagong and Comilla. Voting ended at 4:00 pm.

Dhaka, November 11: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said that electoral violence cannot be prevented by implementing door-to-door surveillance. He told reporters after the 89th meeting of the commission at the election building in Agargaon on Wednesday evening that violence could not be stopped by house-to-house, neighborhood-to-neighborhood police patrols and the only way to prevent this is to show tolerance and adherence to the code of conduct for those who participate in elections and those who are involved.

Election Commission embarrassed by violence in the UP elections

Dhaka, November 3: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said that the Election Commission is embarrassed by the increasing violence in the Union Parishad (UP) elections. The CEC said this in response to a question from reporters at the Election Building in Agargaon on Tuesday (November 2) afternoon.
