US, Taliban sign agreement in Doha
Kabul: In a bid to establish a peace process, the US and Taliban group signed an agreement on Saturday, media reports said.
The deal aims to end an 18-year-old conflict.
The US and its Nato allies have agreed to withdraw all their troops from the country within 14 months if the militants uphold the deal, reported BBC.
The event was attended in Doha city of Qatar by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Taliban leaders.
Under the agreement signed in Doha, the militants also agreed not to allow al-Qaeda or any other extremist group to operate in the areas they control, reported BBC.
The US-Taliban peace deal signed by Zalmay Khalilzad the United States peace envoy and Mullah Brother, the Taliban official in Doha on Saturday, reported Khaama Press.
The US and Taliban negotiated for 18 months until this agreement was reached.
