IMF Loan Bangladesh receives second installment of IMF loan
Dhaka, Dec 13: Bangladesh has received 682 million dollars of the second tranche of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan of 470 crore dollars.
Gazi Touhidul Islam, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Finance, shared this information quoting Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday (December 13).
Earlier, Bangladesh received 47 crore 62 lakh dollars of the first installment of the loan in February this year. The amount was released within three days of approval.
Before approving the loan for the second tranche, the IMF delegation inspected the reform measures in Bangladesh as per the agreement. The second tranche was then approved by the IMF Board on Wednesday based on their assessment and observations.
According to the agreement, Bangladesh will receive four more installments in phases by 2026. This money will play a role in eliminating the foreign exchange deficit by reducing the pressure on the reserves.
