Dhaka, March 16: An initiative has been taken to monitor the supply chain through software. The software was launched on Friday.

State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu said this in a press conference organized at the meeting room of the Ministry of Commerce on the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day.

Referring to the Consumer Complaint Management System, Ahsanul Islam said, "We are taking action immediately if you complain on 16121 number. Our Consumer Directorate is strengthening the supply chain monitoring system. We are trying to develop a software to monitor the supply chain."

Advising consumers to go to supershops and buy daily products at fixed prices, the State Minister of Commerce said, "Everyone thinks that supermarkets are for the middle class or the upper class. Yesterday, the Super Market Association told me in a letter, how much they will sell any daily essential products during the fast. This can be an example. Daily commodities will be available there at fixed prices."

Calling for the publication of the fixed price of the product in the media, he said, "If potatoes are available in a supermarket for 30 taka, many people think that they will save money if they bargain elsewhere - that's why they go to the raw market. Supershop is selling oil below our fixed price, they are trying to sell other things at a fairly low price."

Commenting on the wholesale traders should be brought under the control, the State Minister of Commerce said, they must give vouchers, at what price they gave (products) to the retailer. When we go, ask the retailer, they don't get it. Because they are not buying from wholesalers but from wholesale market street.
