Dhaka, Feb 13: Commenting that Bangladesh is slowly improving, Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali said, there is a crisis but we are overcoming it. At the same time, Bangladesh is now on the upward trend. Bangladesh is a country of possibilities and I came back on the same trek.

He said this in response to a question from journalists after a courtesy meeting with the representative of Asia Development Bank (ADB), Special Envoy for Climate of the French Government Stephen Croza and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFD) Country Director Arnaud Hemliers at the Ministry of Finance's office on Monday.

The finance minister said that the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFD) project activities are ongoing in Bangladesh. There they are bringing new ideas and they are being discussed.

When asked if there was talk of focus on any specific issue, he said, there is nothing like that. But they develop slowly. Every year there is a discussion with us. Discussions have been held with Bangladesh and others regarding innovation this year.

"IFD said they want more cooperation, what are our expectations from that?" In response to such questions, he said, "Everyone talks about their ideas, you think about what can be done. There are many problems in Bangladesh now. Marketing is a problem in this. As the produce from the farmer comes to Dhaka, it goes to the hands of the middlemen. This is a big problem. We are thinking about how to change that. IFD always helps us here. Not only them, we have many partners, such as Japan, Asia Development Bank. Besides, we have development partners who bring different ideas. Then together we started to walk out a road."
