Dhaka, Jan 16: The international trade fair will begin on January 21 (2024) at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) in Purbachal, the outskirts of the capital.

Haider Ali, information and public relations officer of the Ministry of Commerce, said this on Monday.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the trade fair. The fair will run for a month at BBCFEC in Purbachal.

This is the 28th edition of the trade fair in the capital. And the third at Purbachale Bangabandhu Exhibition Center. The trade fair officially started at the Purbachale permanent center from 2022. Earlier, all the fairs were held at a temporary center in the capital's Sherbangla Nagar. A permanent trade fair center has been built in Purbachal with Chinese funding. From now on, the International Trade Fair will be held here every year.

The fair was held in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar from 1995 to 2020 as a joint initiative of the Ministry of Commerce and EPB to promote, spread, market, and support domestic products. The fair could not be held in 2021 due to the Covid pandemic. Then in 2022 the fair moved to BBCFEC in Purbach for the first time amid pandemic restrictions. This is the third time the trade fair is being held at the permanent venue Bangladesh-China Exhibition Centre.

EPB says, in addition to domestic products, various countries including India, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Nepal will participate in this year's trade fair. Aims to find large market for export of domestic products besides product display.
