Bangladesh census: Muslim population 91.04%, Hindu 7.95%

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 28: The Muslim population in the country has increased by 0.39 percent in a decade. At the same time the population of other religions has decreased. This information was presented at the publication ceremony of the first digital Population and Housing Census 2022 implemented through BBS under the Department of Statistics and Information Management at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city on Wednesday (July 27).

Bangladesh's floating population 22,000, mostly male

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 28: Increasing by 2 crore 11 lakh 14 thousand 920 in the last decade, the population of Bangladesh is now 16 crore 51 lakh 58 thousand 616. Among them, 8 crore 17 lakh 12 thousand 824 are men, 8 crore 33 lakh 47 thousand 206 are women and 12,629 are of the third gender. At present the total floating population in the country is 22,119 people, including16,784 men and 5,335 women.

First count of third gender in census

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 28: In 1974, the first census was conducted in Bangladesh. After that, a total of six censuses (1981, 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2022) were conducted. However, this is the first time that third gender people have been officially included in the list. They took another step forward in implementing the long-standing demand of the third gender people to get evaluation in all fields by the nation.

Bangladesh's population stands at 16 crore 51 lakh 58 thousand

Dhaka, July 27: Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) has released the much awaited country's population data. Although the country is supposed to enumerate its population every 10 years, this year's census was repeatedly pushed back due to the unexpected Covid-19, the retirement of the first project director and the inefficiency of the second project director (PD).
