Floating Population Bangladesh's floating population 22,000, mostly male
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 28: Increasing by 2 crore 11 lakh 14 thousand 920 in the last decade, the population of Bangladesh is now 16 crore 51 lakh 58 thousand 616. Among them, 8 crore 17 lakh 12 thousand 824 are men, 8 crore 33 lakh 47 thousand 206 are women and 12,629 are of the third gender. At present the total floating population in the country is 22,119 people, including16,784 men and 5,335 women.
Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) has released these data in the preliminary report of Population and Housing Census 2022. This information was presented at the publication ceremony of the first digital Population and Housing Census 2022 implemented through BBS under the Department of Statistics and Information Management at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city on Wednesday (July 27).
According to the BBS report, the floating population is the highest at 9,439 in Dhaka division and the lowest at 692 in Mymensingh division.
Besides, the floating population is 5,216 in Chittagong division, 2,177 in Barisal, 1,325 in Khulna, 1,303 in Rajshahi, 1,074 in Rangpur and 893 in Sylhet division.
Speaker Dr. Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury was present as the chief guest in the event under the chairmanship of Planning Minister MA Mannan. State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain and State Minister for Planning Dr. Shamsul Alam were also present there.
