King of Jordan praises Bangladesh's progress

Dhaka, March 22: King Abdullah of Jordan praised the development and progress of Bangladesh.

"Bangladesh has made tremendous progress in all areas over the past five decades, reflecting the tolerance and leadership wisdom of the people of the country. I am confident that Bangladesh will make further progress in the future by maintaining peace, further development and harnessing the potential of the people," he said.

He gave a video message on the 5th day of the program organized on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of independence. This video message was broadcast on behalf of the king.

King Abdullah of Jordan said, "Apart from bilateral relations, we (Bangladesh-Jordan) have integrated activities in multilateral fora including OIC. We are committed to building a conflict-free, stable and peaceful world. We want to promote mutually beneficial relations to serve the people of the two countries. We also want to work together to address regional challenges such as the crisis and terrorism."

The message said that Jordan also wants to work with Bangladesh to establish justice and lasting peace for the Palestinian people on the basis of two-state policy.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi spoke in a video message on behalf of King Abdullah on the fifth day of the 10-day Mujib Eternity.

The theme of the fifth day (March 21, 2021) was 'Song of Life in Destruction'. Welcoming remarks were made by Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud.

Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader and historian Dr Syed Anwar Hossain participated in the discussion.
