Dhaka, March 2: The High Court has ruled that the decision of the Appellate Board has been declared invalid by rejecting the candidature of Zayed Khan in a dispute over the post of General Secretary of Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association. As a result, the decision of the commission to appoint Zayed Khan as the general secretary was upheld. Now Zayed Khan is the general secretary of Shilpi Samiti.

A virtual bench of the High Court comprising Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman passed the order on Wednesday (March 2).

Advocate Ahsanul Karim and Advocate Nahid Sultana Yuthi appeared for Zayed Khan in the court. Barrister Rokon Uddin Mahmud represented Nipun.

Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar and Assistant Attorney General Selim Azad represented the state.

Zayed Khan's lawyer Advocate Ahsanul Karim told the media that the general secretary of Bangladesh Film Artists Association had declared him as the winner.

The decision of the High Court verdict remained in force. The decision of the Appellate Board declaring Nipun as General Secretary has been declared invalid. As a result, Zayed Khan will continue to be the general secretary.

Meanwhile, Nipun Akhter's lawyer Mostafizur Rahman Khan said that an appeal would be lodged against the verdict.

Earlier on Tuesday (March 1), the same bench held a hearing on the issue. The High Court then fixed Wednesday (March 2) for further hearing and order. Following this, the court gave this verdict today.

Meanwhile, in an immediate response to the verdict, Zayed Khan told reporters, "Popularity is the reason for my hostility. The artists have opposed me. I am grateful for the verdict of the court. I have received justice. Many artists and well-wishers have prayed for me. I am grateful to everyone."

On the other hand, Nipun Akhter said that she would appeal again against the decision of the High Court regarding the post of General Secretary of BFDC.
