15 animal markets to be leased in two cities of Dhaka on Eid-ul-Azha

Dhaka, June 16: On the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, 17 temporary sacrificial animal markets will be set up in different areas of the capital Dhaka. Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have finalized the lease of 15 markets. The two organizations have got several times higher price than the price fixed by the government for the lease of these animal markets.

The officials of DNCC and DSCC said that this time eight temporary animal huts will be set up in DNCC area and nine in DSCC area. Of these, DNCC has finalized the lease of eight huts and DSCC has finalized seven. Leasing of remaining two huts is under process. Apart from this, sacrificial animals will be sold at DNCC's Gabtali permanent animal market and DSCC's Sarulia animal market.

Eid-ul-Azha can be held on June 29 subject to sighting of the moon. According to the rules of the city corporation, Qorbani haat is supposed to be set up three days before Eid. However, it is known that the lessee has already started ancillary work, including hanging awnings on bamboo poles, in the huts where the lease has been finalised.

The property division of DNCC handles the leasing or supervision of Qorbani huts. Sources of this department said that on May 2, DNCC Chief Property Officer Mohammad Mahe Alam called for tenders for eight livestock markets. On May 15, the first phase of the tender sale ended. The next day, May 16, the tender was submitted in the morning and the tender was opened in the afternoon.

According to the tender, the official price of DNCC's Bhatara (Saidnagar) animal market was asked to be Tk 1 crore 13 lakh 70 thousand 267. The highest price of this market was found to be 3 crore 70 lakh taka. Uttara Diabari sector 16 and 18 adjacent to the vacant land of the hut in Bau Bazar area, the government price was Tk 1 crore 20 lakh. The highest price of this hut was found to be 6 crore rupees.

Badda Eastern Housing Aftab Nagar block-B to H block of the vacant lot lease price is asked for 1 crore 51 lakh 6 thousand 60 taka. The highest price found in this market was 1 crore 61 lakh taka. DNCC asked for a hut lease for 1 crore 35 lakh 34 thousand 560 rupees in the vacant land of Eastern Housing of Mirpur Section-6. The highest price of this hut was found to be 1 crore 36 lakh 16 thousand 786 taka.
