Gold price drops by Tk 1,750 per bhori

Dhaka, Jan 19: A day after the gold prices touched a record high, jewellers have announced a cut in gold prices. A maximum of Tk 1,750 has been reduced per bhori. As a result, the price of a good quality i.e. 22 carat gold will be Tk 1,10,691 per bhori, which was at Tk 1,12,441 before.

This information was shared in a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring of Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), on Thursday (January 18).

According to BAJUS, the price of acid gold has decreased in the local market. The new price of gold has been fixed keeping in view the overall situation. The new prices will be implemented from Friday (January 19).

According to the new prices, the best quality or 22 carat gold is Tk 1,10,691 per bhori (11.664 grams), 21 carat gold is Tk 1,05,676 per bhori, 18 carat gold is Tk 90,571 per bhori and traditional gold is Tk 75,466.

Earlier on Wednesday (January 17), BAJUS had announced to increase the price of gold. Which came into effect on January 18. On Thursday, the price the best quality or 22 carat gold was Tk 1,12,441 per bhori (11.664 grams), 21 carat gold was Tk 1,07,309 per bhori, 18 carat gold was Tk 92,029 per bhori and traditional gold was Tk 76,632.

The price of gold has increased but the price of silver has been kept unchanged. Currently, the price of 22 carat silver is Tk 2,100 per bhori, 21 carat is Tk 2,006, 18 carat is Tk 1,715 per bhori and the price of traditional silver is Tk 1,283.
