RADP of Tk 2.45 lakh crore approved for current year

Dhaka, March 13: The National Economic Council (NEC) has approved a Revised Annual Development Program (RADP) of Tk 2 lakh 45 thousand crore for the current financial year with priority given to road transport, communication, energy and power sectors.

Approved RADP is Tk 18 thousand crore or 6.84 percent less than the original ADP of Tk 2 lakh 63 thousand crore for the current financial year.

This approval was given in the NEC meeting held under the chairmanship of NEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar of the capital on Tuesday.

During the press briefing after the meeting, Senior Secretary of Planning Department Satyajit Karmakar said that out of the total revised RADP of Tk 2 lakh 45 thousand crore, Tk 1 lakh 61 thousand 500 crore will come from local sources and Tk 83 thousand 500 crore from foreign sources.

Planning Minister Major General (retired) Abdus Salam and State Planning Minister Md. Shahiduzzaman Sarkar spoke at the briefing.

Satyajit said that the total number of projects in RADP for the current financial year is 1,588, including 1,345 investment projects, 36 feasibility study projects, 115 technical assistance projects and 92 self-financing projects.

The Planning Minister said that several specific proposals have been made in the meeting as per the earlier instructions of the Prime Minister regarding project formulation, approval and implementation.

He said, in the meeting held for about three hours, the Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to make necessary allocations for those projects which can be completed at the last stage and with minimum funds and from which significant results can be obtained.
