Record export revenue of $55.55 billion recorded in outgoing fiscal year

Dhaka, July 4: Exports continued to have a positive impact on exports in June as a result of May. Compared to the same month of the previous year, Bangladesh's export income increased by 2.51 percent in June. According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) report, it was USD 531 crore or 5.31 billion dollars in June.

This information is known from EPB's updated report on Monday (July). The export earnings target for June was $5.66 billion. Although 9.61 percent less than the target was achieved, the growth was two and a half percent. At this time last year, 4.90 billion dollars worth of goods were exported.

Growth has been muted for the past few months due to the dollar crisis, import constraints and uninterrupted fuel supply to factories. Negative growth was 2.49 percent in March, 16.52 percent in April. However, export growth started showing its face from May. Growth was over 26 percent that month. Growth continued in June.

As a result of this growth, the export income stood at 55.55 billion dollars in the outgoing financial year. Which is the highest ever export earnings. This income is 6.67 percent higher than the previous fiscal year 2021-22. Earlier, export earnings for the fiscal year 2021-22 were $52.8 billion. The garment sector of the country is always at the forefront of exports. 46 billion dollars came from this sector. The growth in this sector has been 10.27 percent.

In addition, there has been an increase of 6.61 percent in footwear, 22.71 percent in caps, 42.98 percent in man made filament and staple fiber, and 26.23 percent in plastic products. On the other hand, there has been a negative growth of 19.1 percent in jute products, 27.47 percent in agricultural products and 20.76 percent in frozen fish.
