Dhaka, June 20: There is no fee to open an account. Money can be sent anywhere in the city or village instantly. At the same time, many new services have been added including payment of shopping bills, loan facilities. Remittances are also coming from abroad. As a result, people's interest and dependence on Mobile Financial Services (MFS) is increasing. The volume of transactions with customers is also increasing.

Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday released updated statistics on Mobile Financial Services (MFS). It has given the information of 13 MFS service providers, it has been seen that 1 lakh 24 thousand 954 crores of mobile banking has been transacted in April this year. This figure is an all-time record transaction.

However, the information of Postal Service 'Nagad' has not been added here. Adding the Nagad account will increase the total transaction by about 30 thousand crore taka. Accordingly, transactions in MFS will release Tk 1 lakh 54 thousand crores; And the daily transaction volume has exceeded 5 thousand 100 crores.

The number of customers is increasing day by day with transactions in mobile banking. Currently, 13 banks are providing mobile banking services under the names of bKash, Rocket, Ucash, MyCash, SureCash. At the end of April 2023, the number of customers registered in mobile banking stood at 20 crore 6 lakh 89 thousand 210 people. Among them, 11 crore 60 lakh 29 thousand 925 male customers, and 8 crore 41 lakh 46 thousand 302 female customers. The number of mobile banking agents has reached 15 lakh 55 thousand 791 at the time discussed. Besides, 'Nagad' has more than 6.5 crore customers. Adding this account, the number of customers registered in mobile banking will be 26.5 crore. This is because many customers are using multiple SIMs. Customers are opening multiple SIM accounts to facilitate transactions.

Now customers can easily open accounts with MFS service providers by filling the digital KYC (Customer Information) form at home. As a result, the customer can open the account hassle-free. Bangladesh Bank launched mobile banking in 2010. On March 31, 2011, the journey of mobile financial services in the country began with the launch of the mobile banking service of the private sector Dutch-Bangla Bank. After that, Bkash launched mobile banking services as a subsidiary of BRAC Bank. At present, the majority of mobile banking services in the country are under the control of bKash.
