Metro rail fare likely to rise by 15% in July

Dhaka, Feb 14: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is considering imposing 15 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) on metro rail tickets. However, the Metro Rail authorities said that they remain under VAT from tax on income generated from ticket sales and overall revenue.

Metro rail will run till night on Uttara-Motijheel route from tomorrow

Dhaka, Jan 19: Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) said that the metro rail will run full time on the Uttara-Motijheel route from tomorrow (Saturday, January 20).

Metrorail to run day and night from January

Metro rail service to remain shut on Oct 14 and 15

Dhaka, Oct 11: Commercial movement of metro rail will be closed on October 14 and 15 (Saturday and Sunday). Meanwhile, Metrorail is closed on Fridays. As a result, passengers will not be able to travel by metro rail for three consecutive days (Friday-Sunday).

All metro stations between Uttara and Agargaon now operational

Dhaka, April 1: Sheorapara and Uttara Dakshin stations of Metrorail have been opened. As a result, the metro rail will stop at all stations on the Uttara-Agargaon route from now on. Remaining four metro rail stations to be opened this month

Dhaka, March 2: Metrorail has a total of nine stations on its route from Uttara North to Agargaon. Of these, five are operational. Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) authorities said these four stations, which are awaiting inauguration, will be opened this month. These four stations are Uttara South, Mirpur-11, Kazipara and Sheorapara.

Construction work of country's first underground railway will begin soon

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, April 4: The country's first underground metro rail will run from the capital's airport to Kamalapur via Kuril, Nadda and Badda. The length of this section will be 19.872 kilometres. If all goes well, the construction of the depot will start in June.
