Metro rail will run till night on Uttara-Motijheel route from tomorrow

Dhaka, Jan 19: Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) said that the metro rail will run full time on the Uttara-Motijheel route from tomorrow (Saturday, January 20).

Managing Director of DMTCL M.A.N. Siddique gave this information in a press conference organized at Prabasi Kalyan Bhaban in Iskaton of the capital on Thursday (January 18).

He said that from January 20, metro rail will run from Uttara to Motijheel from 7:10 am to 8:40 pm.

M.A.N. Siddique said, "Our plan was to extend the time by coordinating the Agargaon section with the Motijheel section by March. But we have recently talked to the passengers to find out what their demands are. According to their demand, metro rail timings are being extended from next Saturday."

Since December 31, trains have been stopping at all 16 stations of Metrorail MRT Line-6.

At present, metro trains are running from 7:30 am to 8:30 pm in Uttara-Agargaon section. And on the Uttara-Motijheel route, it runs from 7:30 am to 11:30 pm. Metro trains are running at 16 stations at Uttara North, Uttara Centre, Uttara Dakshin, Pallabi, Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara, Sheorapara, Agargaon, Vijay Sarani, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbagh, Dhaka University, Bangladesh Secretariat and Motijheel. Extension work up to Kamalapur is in progress. Metro train will also go to Kamalapur after the completion of that part.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on December 28 in 2022 inaugurated the metro rail from Uttara Uttar station to Agargaon. From December 29, 2022, general people started travelling by metro rail.
