All metro stations between Uttara and Agargaon now operational
Dhaka, April 1: Sheorapara and Uttara Dakshin stations of Metrorail have been opened. As a result, the metro rail will stop at all stations on the Uttara-Agargaon route from now on. Passengers are happy that all the stations on this 12 km route have been opened. However, as it was a weekend, there were not many passengers on the Metrorail on Friday. However, a kind of excitement was seen among the few passengers who were there.
At present, Metrorail is running from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. It will run from 8 am to 2 pm from April 5. After that, the metro rail will run till 12 midnight from July.
Saidul Karim, a resident of East Sheorapara, brought his two children and his wife to the Metrorail station. Their house is next to the station. They had to endure a lot of hardships during the construction of this metro rail station.
Saidul Karim said, I was waiting when it will be launched. I have suffered a lot for this metro rail. At one point I decided to leave the flat. Asthma due to dust. Anyway, Sheorapara station has opened today. It feels good. We are freed from suffering. Now I can easily go to Paltan. I have an electronics shop there.
Mahfuzur Rahman, manager of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), said that the metro rail was launched at 8 am. Sheorapara is a densely populated area. Hope the people living here will benefit from this station.
Earlier, on December 28 last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the first elevated metro rail, setting a milestone in the country's communication history. Then the metro rail was inaugurated from Diabari in the capital to Agargaon. Then all the 9 stations on this route were opened gradually.
