Lightning strikes killed 177 people across the country in four months

Dhaka, June 12: In the four months from March to June this year, 177 people have been killed in lightning strikes across the country. At least 47 people were burnt at the same time. Sirajganj has been identified as a new hotspot for casualties in lightning strikes. Besides, the deaths in Chapainawabganj, Jamalapur, Netrokona and Chittagong have increased.

Dhaka, May 19: At least 18 people were killed in lighting strikes within four hours across six districts in Bangladesh. Of these, nine were in Netrokona, four in Faridpur, two in Manikganj and one each in Sunamganj, Kishoreganj and Mymensingh districts. The incidents took place on Tuesday (May 18) from afternoon to evening.
