Bangladesh imports 2,450 metric tons of wheat from India

Dhaka, August 30: Bangladesh has imported 2,450 metric tons of LC wheat from India by train. The shipment is being unloaded at Jaipurhat station since two days. Joypurhat Station Master Md. Habibur Rahman said this.

Wheat has been imported by a company named M/s Renu Construction of Joypurhat. The manager of the organization, Raju Ahmed, said that 2,450 metric tons of LC wheat was imported from the Indian state of Bihar. Wheat has arrived in 42 wagons of the train. These wheats are being unloaded.

Station Master Md. Habibur Rahman said, these wheats arrived at Joypurhat station on Saturday (August 27) on the Radhikapur-Biral railway. Government has received rent of 9 lakh 58 thousand taka for import of wheat. After unloading the wheat, the train will leave for India on the same route.

Meanwhile, wheat is being sold at the rate of Tk 38 to Tk 42 per kg in the current market. However, due to the price of the dollar, there is no possibility of reducing the price of imported wheat, traders said.
