Investment increased by Tk 1.14 lakh crore in 6 months

Dhaka, December 26: The stock market is slowly becoming sustainable as investment in the last six months has increased by Tk 1.14 lakh crore, according to Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) officials.

Six months ago, the country's stock market was the center of frustration. At present, that market is becoming a sustainable market. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Professor Shibli Rubaiyat-ul Islam has announced that the capital market will be sustainable within the next six months.

He made the announcement on Thursday (December 24) during the official launch of the online version of a newspaper. He mentioned that BSEC will provide investment security to small investors.

Meanwhile, the country's stock market has shown a continuous upward trend. The stock market remained bullish for four consecutive weeks as all price indices rose last week. As a result of this continuous rise for four weeks, the amount of investment of investors has increased to over Rs 35,000 crore. Of this, it has increased by around Tk 9,000 crore last week.

Meanwhile, by analyzing the data of the stock market, it has been seen that the amount of investment of the investors has increased by Tk 1,14,019 crore.

At the beginning of last July, the market capitalization of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) was Tk 3,11,775 crore. On the last working day of last week, Thursday (December 24), the market capitalization of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at Tk 4,25,794 crore. The market capitalization on the last working day of the previous week was Tk 4,16,947 crore. In other words, the market capitalization of DSE has increased by Tk 8,847 crore in the last one week. Through this, the market capitalization of DSE increased by Tk 35,261 crore in four consecutive weeks.

The market capitalization of DSE has increased by Tk 6,330 crore in the previous week. In the previous two weeks, the market capitalization increased by Tk 11,339 crore and Tk 8,745 crore.

In this context, the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) researcher. "When there is no place to invest elsewhere, investment in the stock market increases," said Zayed Bakht.

Dr. Ahmed Rashid Lali, former president of DSE Brokerage Association of Bangladesh, is as optimistic as Zayed Bakht. He said, "New IPOs are coming, the benefits of which are now being reaped." He said a number of initiatives taken by the regulatory body were playing a big role in improving the market situation.
