Police told  IBNS that suspected militants fired indiscriminately on Imtiyaz Ahmad Nadroo in Pattan town, and left him seriously injured.
 

Later he was shifted to hospital for treatment. This was the third such attack in three days in the district. 

 

On Monday, guerrillas killed a man and injured two others in Sopore town in an attack on a BSNL SIM card selling shop.

On Tuesday, another person was killed in Duroo village on the outskirts of Sopore.

The attacks on people engaged in cell phone business came after police removed “High Tech Communication Device” equipment from a tower in
Sopore that was fitted by militants to improve their communication network.

Expressing dismay over the latest incidents, J&K Education Minister Naeem Akhtar said such acts were aimed at subverting the state\'s  political
and economic stability.

Separatists, too, have been vocal about condemning the killings and described the incidents as "an act of terror”, saying whoever was involved is
committing inhuman acts.

“Whosoever, people or agencies, is involved in such killings are not only enemies of humanity, they are defaming the freedom struggle of
Kashmir and committing acts of terrorism,” senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani said.

The United Jihad Council, an amalgam of militant outfits based in Muzafferabad, termed the attacks the “handiwork of Indian agencies”
and claimed that no militant outfit called Lashkar-e-Islam exists.
